Ok, so I haven't posted in a long time. I can say with certainty this is part laziness and part fear of blogging. I won't call this a reboot because I've done that too many times but I did  redo the layout and will try to do better with updating as I have a terrible memory and it would be nice if I had a little bit of a record of what has happened. 

I've given up on having a blog that is one of those reads that strangers will want to stumble upon because there are cute little Pintrest collages of awesome clothes or artful photos of my healthy and delicious cooking adventures or cute pictures of my pets and babies. I just barely mastered shopping for clothes and we have to take lifestyle baby steps everybody. 

 I sound defensive but really it is just that I'm resigned. I'm super happy that there are amazing blogs out there that I anxiously wait for updates on (This, and This , oh and this )  but I don't feel like mine will be one of them except maybe to my family.  Maybe someday this will turn into something that will illicit more bloggy swoons, but in the mean time, here is the best I've got. 

I'm hoping K will help me with providing some better pictures because the quality is too damn low. I have not yet informed him of this initiative however, so that is just a hope for the future. 

I'll try not to duplicate photos that I've already posted to google+ so hopefully we'll get more behind the scenes here:D 

Speaking of hopes for the future, here is what we have been up to. 

I got a new job, then it promptly got changed on me. I'm currently dealing with the fallout from that. However, I hope to be able to navigate the corporate waters all the way to a PMP certification. 

K has some new prospects on the rise. I'll keep them under the hood for now but we're hoping for good news soon. 

This summer has been a whirlwind of house parties, weddings, moving, crafts and grilling. My hopes for Fall are similar and will hopefully lead up to a winter of hermitage where K and I can hole up and chill out. 

 

Coming up this month we are throwing a big ol' Halloween party at Chez Bs and the prep has started early. 

 The kitties at Chez Bs had to get some heated beds already. Hello weather I love you.

I even bought a few Halloweeny things myself at the dollar section of Target. This is a sad little vignette, if you wanna check out someone who really does decorating for the holidays up check out this lady.

Anyway, here is to Fall and smaller, more frequent posts in the future. Don't laugh if that fails again friends!

We have been packing in the fun stuff, so once again I only have a highlight of all the things we've been doing. I'm glad we are packing in some excellent summer happenings before we have to spend probably about 3 weeks moving. 

We've been getting to spent some time with CB and her husband NJ. They have some cute kids, a really nice pool and just a ton of general awesomeness. Here is K playing kinect with one of her kiddos, who is much better at it than either of us. (Blurry cell phone, woohoo)

 

We participated in a volunteer night for BikeWalkKC to build some commuter bikes that will eventually be installed all over kansas city, similar to the zip car concept. It was fun getting to hang out with fellow bike nerds and get back to volunteering. We are hoping to do more with the organization and others.  

BB had the excellent idea to attend the Kansas City public library's Off the Wall summer movie series and it was great. It is a free event, among the great downtown KC view. They hold the movies on the rooftop and we had fun attending Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. It was funnier than I remembered, probably because it is a better group movie, especially when we went with some people who has never seen it and who were loving it. 

As you can see we attended our first Sporting KC game and it was really fun. I have to rate it my favorite sporting experience in Kansas City. It is more interesting than the Royals (sorry baseball fans) and less crazy than the Chiefs games (sorry again). But really? They shot confetti on the field every time a goal was scored, and because everywhere in the stadium is so close, it rains down on you. How fun is that? K was so excited he basically had joy shooting out his eyeballs (see above picture). 

Whew, not pictured are a few other fun things we've been doing: Dinner with Ms. Nithi and LP, A great happy hour at McFadden's for our friend SW's birthday, Camping with BB and her bf Beard (see K's blog for those pics), a pool party at CB's. 

Upcoming in our lives: DJing a Wedding, maybe some berry picking, a baby shower in Bloomington, Indiana and moving. The more distant future is generally getting excited for Baby Squinky's arrival and my parents visiting from Australia!

So I've been encouraged to continue to blog, despite the fact that K has a new blog that has much better photos than my terrible little cell phone photos:) Since I'm still in charge of chronically the every day for us, however, I'll carry on. 

We've been welcoming in Summer like a crazy circus. Things have been shaking up and we officially have a place to move to and some interesting job stuff on the horizon. We'll be moving in July sooo if you've got extra boxes and live in KC, save them for us? 

While we will miss our neighborhood, we are moving to a small house (just renting) which will give us a little more room and some more freedom to do things like entertain and host guests and cook outside:) 

It is going to be pretty difficult to not just buy up a bunch of stuff, however, our bank account will keep us in check and in the mean time we will do what we always do: Dream big and buy nothing:)

 In terms of fun things we have been doing you can check out the aforementioned K's blog for an update on our water activities, but we also rode the Tour de Brew lately. While I don't feel like I learned as much as I should have about the historical sites, we had a ton of fun with CD and it was a perfect day for the ride.

The after party was at Knukleheads which was great to see and we hope to go back someday, maybe we will commandeer a motorcycle friend to go with us for cred:) 

I'm sure we'll have many more rides this summer as we get ready BikeMS in September. K and CD are leading the front on a team this year so it should be pretty involved and extra fun. I'm sure you'll all see our annoying please donate links soon:) 

Upcoming things: We are volunteering this Wednesday  which should be fun in you're in the area and in to biking:) There is a camping trip planned for this weekend that we are stoked about and we are Dj'ing a friend's wedding coming up in June which should be fun. I'll try to keep things updated between K's blog and this one to keep track of this whirlwind summer. Cheerio

 A misleading post title, as we haven't gone anywhere. But lately I've been trying to make peace with that. Our recent plans to leave have been postponed as new opportunities have been coming up in KC (a blessing and a curse, yay for opportunity, boo for the fact that we will never get out of here). Anyway, that means that we will most likely be sticking around and continuing to love living here and exploring here:) 

Plans aside, there have been many things happening. You've probably all seen K's updates as of late, which shed most of the light on LP's baby shower, a visit from LH, our good friend's baby shower etc. Here are some of the other things we have been doing:

Before the baby shower, K and I got a chance to babysit Miss Nithi. It was super fun rolling around and giggling etc. plus we found out how adept a three year old can be with a smart phone. Who knew that this was the new medium, but she totally had the controls etc. down on a drawing game K showed her in seconds flat.

Finally, this weekend I was sick for the most part and K being the wonderful and dutiful husband he is, humored me by letting me eat nothing but frozen yogurt and seeing The Avengers at the super cool Ward Parkway theater with me. It was an awesome movie and I loved the recliners. It was a nice relaxing weekend in which I never put on pants more real than the yoga variety.

 Upcoming, we are looking to move sometime this summer so have been on the search. We can't really decide if we would rather live in a house or a loft or what. Neighborhoods we are looking at: Waldo, Mission, Roeland Park, Westport, Plaza/West Plaza, Rivermarket, Soho/Garment, Prarie Village. Basically inside the loop and not too far from the Plaza. If you have suggestions for us feel free to leave them in the comments:) 

 Spring is here and we have been having fun. Things that have happened lately that are awesome. 1. BB is back in town. I decorated her cube as below. 

Also we got to spent a whole Sunday at Shawnee Mission Park with A and C while they taught us how to geocache.

Before they got to the park for our picnic lunch and hunt, we decided to try out the kite. As seen below, here is K untangling the string. 

Here he is twenty seconds later, looking up at the tree where he lost said kite. 

And here he is standing way back there, throwing me a football that he finally cajoled me in to buying. I am not a super fan of this so far, because I don't catch it correctly so it hurts. I like kicking it though, what are you gonna do when you are brought up on Futball. 

This park is PACKED with stuff to do, cool picnic shelters etc. We ate a picnic at one nice one right next to the big lake. 

K enjoyed messing with the special GPS that C the professional had. 

I even found the first one! (Although I stepped in dog dookie so win some, lose some.) P.S. isn't that something you felt like you heard a lot when you were younger and now no one else says? Dog dookie. haha. 

 

They have a huge off leash dog park there complete with it own doggie beach for access to the lake. Them pups LOVED it there. And K had some serious fun watching them. 

 

I'm having fun too, but you can't tel because by husband took this picture without my knowledge. 

Hurray for being outside. Next up, visitors and baby showers!

It has been a while and I'll just tell you that life is stressful but happy currently. We have come to the precipice where change is a reality but still an unknown one so there is no news but I can tell you I've got an eye twitch and had my first migraine last week:) Thankfully I have a wonderful husband and we do an excellent job of keeping each other sane. There are a lot of tradesies to make sure that at least one person feels calm and in control at a time. 

So with all that crypticness, I can tell you that right now we are focused on getting back in shape and healthy so we spend lots of our free time on that. I have gone back to vegetarian (yes still the kind that people like to judge because I give myself rules and exceptions). K is very supportive and tried to be one too, but I ended up banning him because what with his dislike of most of the vegetarian sources of protein, he wasn't getting much good stuff haha.

We had a fun weekend this weekend with family and friends and the new show we watch together Game of Thrones. We hosted a family event Sunday which was very nice and there were tulips and chocolate bunnies all around. I have been very remiss lately in picturefying all of this so I'll just give you what I've got, which is the pictures we took while laying around in bed messing with the "artiness" of Instagram. P.S. I never got around to actually doing any of the filtering stuff with Instagram on these.

I have a wonderful husband, seriously. We have now been married 6 whole months and this weekend, for some reason everywhere we went we got some comment on being married. It was odd because we haven't had anyone notice much or comment at all until now, but it did help to remind me how luck I am to be married to him. 

The rest of our life will fall into place at some point and until then I'm gonna read this book and go for bike rides and generally live my first world, totally privileged, relatively stress free life. 

I'm getting tired of this wishy-washyness. Let just agree that is can be Spring now. 

....and then it randomly snowed. 

You can't really tell from this picture (the awesome view at work, this isn't even my window because I don't get to sit by one). 

We are just counting down the hours for San Francisco because a little vacation sounds great right now. Plus I get to learn some interesting stuff about Translation Bioinformatics beforehand. 

Ok BB this one is for you. 

1. We got Alcatraz a new home. This is almost entirely because K felt guilty when BB pointed out he was too big for his "terrarium" haha 

 He is so happy now! 

Also, I made a delicious salad out of the Farro that BB gave me before she left

with Farro, cucumber, tomatoes, cilantro, goat cheese and avocado with a lime vinaigrette. 

I had no idea what it was but am now a fan of  it.
